Payments and settlements

Record split payments, settle for less, issue refunds and understand how totals are rounded.

Snapitto records how each order was paid and guards the balance so it cannot be overpaid.

Taking a payment

Open an order and add a payment with an amount and a method such as cash, card or UPI. Snapitto records the method you choose; it does not process the money for you, so use your own card machine or UPI app and then record the result.

You can add several partial payments to one order. For example, a table splitting a bill might pay part in cash and part by UPI. Each payment is checked against the live remaining balance, so an order can never be overpaid, even if two tills are working at the same time.

Completing the order

An order can only be marked completed once no balance remains. If something is still due, the till tells you so.

Rounding

Totals round down to the nearest rupee. The receipt shows a round-off line so the customer and your books can see exactly what changed.

Settle for less

Sometimes you agree to accept less than an order owes, for instance a regular whose bill was a few rupees over a round number. Use Settle and type the amount you will accept. Important points:

  • The amount you type is rejected if it is more than the balance.
  • The difference is recorded as a settlement adjustment, so your reports stay honest.
  • This is separate from an offer. See Offers and discounts.

Refunds

Refunds are available for cancelled orders. They need an internet connection and a staff position that has refund permission. A refund reopens the order's balance in the record so the books reconcile. Check Staff and permissions to decide who gets that permission.

Refunds are online-only on purpose. A refund changes money that has already been received, so it should never be queued blindly.

Working offline

On the desktop and Android tills, payments recorded offline are saved locally and sent when the connection returns. See Working offline.

Reviewing the day

The Daily sales and Analytics screens (available on every plan, including Free) summarise what was sold. The end of day checklist shows a simple routine for closing.
