Taxes and GST
Set up tax components, choose a tax mode per item and issue GST tax invoices with HSN/SAC codes.
Snapitto handles tax in three layers: tax components for the whole business, a tax mode on each item, and an optional GSTIN that turns your receipts into tax invoices.
Tax components
Open Settings › Taxes and add the rates you charge, named the way your accountant names them: GST, CGST, SGST, Cess, or anything else. You can edit, deactivate or delete a component.
Each active component is an independent rate applied to the same net taxable amount. They do not compound on each other. For example, CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5% each apply to the same base.
A component that has been used on a real order cannot be deleted. Deactivate it instead, and old orders stay intact.
Tax mode per item
Every menu item has one of three modes:
- Exclusive: tax is added on top of the price.
- Inclusive: the price already contains the tax, the normal case for MRP items. The till works out the tax portion and does not charge it twice.
- Exempt: no tax.
Combos are always exclusive. A variant follows its item's mode. See Menu setup.
GSTIN and tax invoices
If your business has a GSTIN, add it to the business details. Once it is set:
- Receipts are titled TAX INVOICE.
- Each line can show its HSN/SAC code, which you enter on the item.
- The tax breakdown lists each component and amount.
Without a GSTIN, the receipt is a plain receipt.
Snapitto does not handle IGST or inter-state supplies. It is designed for outlets that bill customers within the same state using CGST and SGST.
Rounding
Totals round down to the nearest rupee, and the receipt shows the round-off line. See Payments and settlements.
Checking your setup
- Add a tax component and mark a test item exclusive.
- Take a test order and read the tax line.
- Print the receipt and confirm the layout matches what your accountant expects.
If you are unsure which rate applies to a dish, ask your accountant. Snapitto applies the rates you configure; it does not decide them for you.
