Menu setup

Build your menu with categories, items, variants, combos and add-ons, and adjust price or availability per outlet.

Your menu is created once for the whole business and is available at every outlet by default. You then override only what differs. Menu management needs an internet connection; once saved, the menu is cached so the desktop and Android tills can still take orders offline.

Open the menu editor

Go to Menu and choose Manage. The editor shows tabs for each category, plus Uncategorized and Combos. The "All" tab shows everything at a glance, and each tab shows its item count.

Categories

Start with categories such as Starters, Pizzas, Beverages. Categories also become the filter chips cashiers use when picking items, so keep names short.

Items

Each item has:

  • Name and price
  • Category
  • Tax mode: exclusive (tax is added on top), inclusive (the price already contains tax) or exempt. Use inclusive for MRP-controlled items such as bottled water.
  • HSN/SAC code, if you issue GST tax invoices

Open an item's three-dot menu to edit it. You can Disable an item (hidden from ordering but kept in history) or Remove it. An item that has been used in an order or a combo cannot be removed; disable it instead.

Plan limits apply to the number of items: 100 on Free, 150 on Starter, 300 on Cafe Plus and 500 on Growth.

Variants

Use variants when the same dish comes in sizes, for example Half and Full. Each variant has its own price and inherits the item's tax mode.

Add-ons (modifier groups)

A modifier group is a set of optional extras such as Extra cheese or No onion. They are multi-select and always optional. Add-ons do not apply to combo lines.

Combos

A combo bundles several items at one price. Combos are always taxed as exclusive.

Per-outlet overrides

If an item is unavailable at one outlet, or costs more there, add an override for that outlet only. An outlet with no override simply inherits the base price and availability. You never need to copy the whole menu to a new outlet.

Stock awareness

If you track stock (Starter and above), out-of-stock items are hidden from the item picker. See Plans and limits for what each plan includes.

Photos

An item can have a photo that shows in the order screen, on the Menu page and in the Snapitto customer app. Open an item and use Choose photo: the photo editor opens, where you drag to move the picture, zoom, rotate, and adjust brightness, contrast and colour. Item photos are saved as 4:3 pictures (1200 x 900), a logo as a square and a cover picture as 16:9, always compressed so they load fast. A picture that is too small or isn't a JPEG, PNG or WebP is refused with a clear reason.

To add many photos at once, use Upload photos in Menu Setup and name each file after its item (for example Masala Chai.jpg). Each one is matched to the item with that name, centred and resized for you.

If you would rather not see photos on a till, turn them off under Settings, UI & layout, Item photos. That only changes what that browser or till shows.

Hide an item from the customer app

An item can stay on your till but be hidden from the customer app (for example a dish you only serve at the counter). Open the item's menu and choose Hide from customer app, or change Customer app on its edit page. Customers stop seeing it within a few seconds, and the app won't accept an order that still has it in the cart.
