Take your first order
Create a dine-in order, send it to the kitchen, take payment and print the receipt.
This tutorial follows one dine-in order from start to finish. You need a menu with at least a couple of items, see Menu setup if you have not added any.
Steps
- Open Orders and choose New order.
- Choose the order type. Pick Dine-in and enter the table, for example
T4. Takeaway skips the table. Delivery needs the Starter plan or above. - Add items. Tap an item card to add it. Use the search box to find it by name, or the category chips to narrow the list. If an item has Half and Full variants or add-ons, pick them in the panel that appears.
- Adjust quantities. Use the plus and minus buttons in the items list. Reducing a quantity to zero removes the line.
- Optionally add the customer. Type a phone number. If they have ordered before, you will see their last two orders.
- Press Confirm order. Until now the order was only a draft, so no order number was used. The button stays disabled until at least one item is added. After confirming, the order gets its number, such as
LPC12. - Print the KOT. Press Print KOT to send the ticket to the kitchen printer. The kitchen ticket shows no prices.
- Move the order along. As the kitchen works, change the status: placed, preparing, ready, served.
- Change your mind about an item. Choose Edit order, make the change and press Save order changes. Nothing is applied until you save, and Cancel discards everything. If you print the KOT again, added lines are marked
++and removed lines--. - Take payment. Add a payment with an amount and a method. You can add more than one payment if the bill is split. The till will not accept more than the balance.
- Complete the order. It can only be completed once the balance is zero.
- Print the receipt with Print receipt, or open the invoice and download the PDF.
What to notice
- Totals round down to the nearest rupee, and the receipt shows the round-off line.
- The orders list at the top shows today's count, repeat orders and any delayed orders, which are orders open for more than 30 minutes.
If you make a mistake before pressing Confirm, discard the draft. Nothing is recorded and no number is wasted.
Cancelling
You can cancel an order up to the point it reaches preparing. After that, the food may already be made.
