Print to a network printer

Find your LAN thermal printer, connect it from the desktop, Android or web till, and run a test print.

A network printer connects to your router by cable or Wi-Fi and is reached by its IP address. It is a good choice for a kitchen, because it does not depend on a USB cable to one computer.

Before you start

  • An 80mm ESC/POS thermal printer with a network port, powered on and connected to the same network as your till.
  • Its IP address. Most printers print a self-test page holding the address when you hold the feed button while powering on. Check your printer's manual.
  • Ideally a fixed IP, set in your router, so the address does not change.

On the desktop or Android app

  1. Open Settings › Printing.
  2. Find the role you are setting up, KOT or Receipt.
  3. Choose the Network option.
  4. Enter the IP address and the port, which is usually 9100. You can also run the scan, which looks for devices on your network with that port open.
  5. Save, then press Test print. A test ticket should come out.

These apps connect directly to the printer, so nothing else is needed.

On the web till

A web browser cannot open a raw connection to a printer, so the web till uses a small helper called the Snapitto print relay.

  1. Ask your administrator for the installer for your computer, Mac or Windows, and install it once on the computer running the web till.
  2. Start the relay. It listens only on that computer.
  3. Open Settings › Printing in the web till. It shows whether the relay is running. Use Recheck if needed.
  4. Choose Network for KOT or Receipt and enter the printer's IP and port.
  5. Press Test print.

Using two printers

Each till can have its own printer for KOT and another for receipts. Set them separately, for example a kitchen printer for KOT and a counter printer for receipts.

If the test print does not work

  • Confirm the till and the printer are on the same network, not a guest network.
  • Ping the IP address from the computer.
  • Check the port. Some printers use a different port than 9100.
  • For the web till, make sure the relay is running and reports as available.
  • Try a different layout in Printing settings if text looks misaligned: Classic or Columns.
Every print is recorded against the order, and a failed print never blocks the order itself.
